NO LUXURY REQUIRED
Some of my favorite adventures don’t cost anything. I go on hiking trips with a local team, exploring places around the city simply because we enjoy doing it together. No expensive resorts, no carefully planned photo sessions, no need to make everything look impressive online. Just walking, talking, getting tired, occasionally wondering why we chose that particular route, and eventually finding somewhere worth stopping for a while. I love the feeling of discovering a place that’s been there all along but somehow never caught my attention before. Being outdoors also has a way of putting things into perspective. Problems that felt enormous yesterday become a little easier to deal with when you’re walking somewhere beautiful with good people. I think that’s one of the reasons I keep coming back to these trips. The best part isn’t reaching the destination. It’s everything that happens between leaving and getting there.
THE THINGS THAT STAY WITH ME
I still think it's funny how different parts of your life can follow you into completely unexpected places. Music school taught me to notice details and keep trying when something doesn't sound right. Art school made me appreciate the process of creating something, even when the result isn't what I imagined. Theatre and dancing taught me a little about expression, and volunteering showed me that sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is simply show up when someone needs help. None of these experiences turned me into an expert at life, obviously, but each left me with something I still use. These days, I don't feel the need to turn every hobby into an achievement or prove that I'm good at everything I try. Some things are worth doing just because they make you feel more alive, more connected, or simply more like yourself. I think there's something nice about growing without having to announce it.
A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
I’ve never been particularly good at choosing just one thing to be interested in. I went to music school and art school, tried dancing and theatre, and somehow ended up collecting hobbies instead of settling on a single one. These days, you might find me drawing, playing the piano, heading to the gym, or spending time with my team on hiking trips around the city. I also have a thing for boats and yachts, which is a slightly unexpected addition to the list, I know. I like learning things that require different parts of me — patience, creativity, physical energy, or the ability to figure things out as I go. My life probably looks a little random from the outside, but I enjoy having different worlds to escape into. There’s always something new to learn, and honestly, I’d get bored if I stopped being curious
LAND HAS ITS LIMITS
Most people have a pretty clear idea of where they feel comfortable. Mine gets a little complicated when boats and yachts enter the picture. There’s something fascinating about being responsible for a vessel, understanding how everything works, and realizing that the water doesn’t particularly care whether you feel prepared or not. It demands attention, respect, and a completely different way of thinking. I like that combination of technical knowledge and freedom. You can spend hours learning the details, and then suddenly you’re out there, surrounded by water, with a perspective you simply don’t get on land. I’m not saying I’m ready to disappear into the Mediterranean and become a mysterious sea captain tomorrow, but I definitely understand the appeal. Give me something new to learn, a challenge that keeps me focused, and a view worth remembering, and I’m probably going to be interested.
